Curb the irritation. Urinary tract infections such as cystitis are remarkably common – one in three Australian women will experience them at some point. One of the first symptoms is usually a painful burning or stinging feeling when urinating. Ural® (ORIGINAL) Effervescent Powder helps relieve that irritation by working to neutralise acidic urine in your bladder. It's sugar free, pleasant-tasting, and helps soothe mild cystitis symptoms within hours.

How it works
This pleasant effervescent drink helps to relieve the painful burning and stinging brought on by urinary tract infections such as cystitis.

Each sachet contains sodium bicarbonate, tartaric acid, citric acid anhydrous, sodium citrate anhydrous. Also contains saccharin.

Dissolve 1-2 sachets in a glass of cold water. Take up to 4 times daily. Do not use for more than five days without consulting your doctor. See your doctor if irritation persists after 48 hours or if there is blood in your urine.

Check with a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are taking other medicines or if you have kidney problems, heart problems or high blood pressure. Those on a low-salt diet should note that each sachet contains 644mg of sodium. Always read the label. Use only as directed.
How did I get this urinary tract infection?
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common and usually occur as a result of bacteria from the bowel transferring to the bladder. Women are particularly prone to UTIs as the urethra (the final exit point from the bladder) is only about four centimetres long, meaning micro-organisms have only a short journey to reach the bladder. UTIs can result from sexual activity, changes in hormone levels including pregnancy and hormone replacement therapy, genetics, certain medical conditions and changes in diet. Diabetics are also more prone to developing UTIs.

Is there anything else I can do to improve my symptoms?
Drink plenty of water – this will help flush the bacteria from your bladder. Urinate soon after sex. Keep the genital area clean, particularly before having sex. Avoid acidic foods such as citrus fruits, spicy dishes, caffeine and alcohol.

How soon should I get relief from Ural® (ORIGINAL)?
Ural® (ORIGINAL) should help alleviate the irritation and burning sensation felt when urinating within hours. If symptoms persist after 48 hours, or if there is blood in the urine, seek medical attention promptly.

Do I need to see a doctor, or is taking Ural® (ORIGINAL) enough?
Ural® (ORIGINAL) treats the symptoms of a mild UTI, but some infections may also require a course of antibiotics. See your doctor if your urine contains blood, or if urinating remains painful and/or too-frequent, if your urine is an abnormal or cloudy colour and/or has a strong odour.

I have had several attacks of cystitis recently. What else can I do?
Talk to your doctor. As well, consider keeping an emergency supply of Ural® Cranberry sachets on hand: they not only address the symptoms of irritation at the onset of an infection, but the added cranberry extract is designed to help promote a healthy urinary tract and may help ward off the risk of further infections.
Ural® (ORIGINAL) Effervescent Powder is only available from pharmacies. RRP is $6.50 for a pack of eight four-gram sachets, or $11 for a pack of 28 four-gram sachets.
